A Hill Of Surprise

How it could happen I don't understand

T'was walking along enjoying the band

The night ahead promised laughter and fun

Young women glowing bright were the evening's Sun

Yes my crew and I had drank our fill

We flowed through space and came to the hill

This hill had no life, spirit or soul

What it did have was an unseen hole

This spot and my foot were destined to meet

That kind of introduction is no treat

There it waited, an unintentional trap

In went my foot and we all heard the snap

My beer was airborne without a sound

But I was screaming as I hit the ground

Knew right away my deal was done

No more women, booze or night time fun

And with the familiar sinking gloom

Off we went to the Emergency Room

(this is an old piece written not long after a great night turned lousy early in my Freshman year of college. Autumn of 1990. just an afterthought hence the parentheses. maybe someone will give a rolling fuck.)
